Relevance Ministries Presents: LEAD

LEAD is a gathering of one hundred participants that includes young clergy, young lay leaders, and others who are working with young adults in the United Methodist Church. LEAD will bring together the collective wisdom of those that want to transform and grow young adult ministry in the church for the ultimate transformation of the world with the love of Jesus Christ.

Participants will hear from six speakers, in a “TED” like format, offering new and innovative ideas for ministry with young adults. Participants will have multiple opportunities for conversation and reflection with speakers and other participants as every portion of the LEAD schedule will be structured to encourage the exchange and sharing of ideas during meals, in small groups, during large group gatherings and even after hours.

As the event gets closer, we will be launching our LIVE website in which attendees on-site as well as though not able to make it to Las Vegas, will be able to get up to the minute information and interact with one another. Make plans to register now for this conference. Less than 20 spots are available and will fill quickly. Once these spots have filled you will be placed on our waiting list. During this time, should a spot become available, you will be notified via email and must register within 48 hours to guarantee your spot. Where to Stay

UNLV Residence Halls

Every portion of the LEAD schedule is structured to encourage the exchange and sharing of ideas even after hours.

The UNLV Residence Halls are within walking distance of the LEAD 2012 and included in your registration. Each floor has a general meeting space where we will encourage groups to meet together after returning from the event. Please note that rooms will be divided into male and female rooms as per the policy of UNLV.

All rooms at UNLV Conference Housing are double occupancy (except for handicap adapted suites which are triple occupancy) and include bed and bath linen. Two rooms form a suite and share a bathroom. Each resident is provided with a bed, desk and desk chair, wardrobe or closet, dresser or drawer/storage space. Roommates share a vanity sink. Rooms are carpeted, have mini-blinds, and are air conditioned. Wheelchair adapted rooms are available in each community. All rooms are equipped with phones and local calls are free. Guests are responsible for providing their own alarm clocks. Personal care items (excluding soap and toilet paper) are not provided. Drug and grocery stores are within walking distance.

Parking

Please do not park in reserved parking areas or spaces designated for faculty and staff. We assume no responsibility for any parking tickets received while on the UNLV Campus.

Internet Connections

Internet connections are available for a nominal fee. Guests will be able to purchase and activate their Internet Connection during the check-in process. Our host, University UMC, is working through the options to ensure they can support enough bandwidth for wireless access at LEAD. Computer stations will be set up (with printers), to allow you to check-in and print any needed boarding passes

Directions to Residence Halls

From McCarran International Airport:
Exit the airport via Swenson Street. Turn right on Tropicana Avenue and proceed east two blocks on Tropicana to Maryland Parkway. Turn left on Maryland Parkway. Proceed north to University Road (first red light) and turn left onto University Road. Drive straight down University Road and pass two stop signs. The road will dead end and force you to turn right. Tonopah Hall is the large six-story building on the corner.

From Interstate 15:
Exit I-15 at the Tropicana Avenue East Exit. Follow Tropicana Avenue (approximately 3 miles) and turn left on Maryland Parkway. Follow the directions above to the Tonopah Hall

From US Highway 93 & 95:
Exit the Tropicana Avenue West exit and continue on Tropicana Avenue (approximately 6 miles) to Maryland Parkway. Turn right onto Maryland Parkway and follow the directions as listed above.

If you decide to stay off site, there are many hotel options available and our team would be more then happy to point you in the right direction as to nearby hotels.

The closest place to get your caffeine fix is at The Coffee Bean across from UNLV on Maryland Parkway near Harmon.
This is a great place to stop for a quick coffee and pastry and they have free wifi!

University UMC and its staff welcomes the attendees of LEAD. Located in the center of Las Vegas, University is the ideal location for LEAD. University UMC is surrounded by a diverse community that includes the UNLV campus. University UMC is just minutes from the world famous Las Vegas Strip.

University UMC is 1/2 mile from McCarran International Airport. Weather in February can be chilly, but don't expect the blistering cold. Average highs during the day are in the mid to upper 60's. A light jacket should get you through the evenings.

Traveling to LEAD

Air Travel: McCarran International Aiport (LAS) is located 1/2 mile from the Conference Location. More than 30 airlines provide nonstop service from Las Vegas to approximately 140 domestic destinations. Ranked as the 8th busiest airport, McCarran is reachable from anywhere in the country.

Leaving the airport couldn't be easier. There are many transportation options to choose from including car rentals and taxi cabs. Once you make your airline reservations, forward your information to info@relevancex.com and we will provide transportation to and from the airport at no cost.

Dedicated Rent-A-Car shuttles depart approximately every five minutes to the Rent-A-Car Center. For information about the Rent-A-Car Center, call 702-261-6001

Taxicabs are available on the east side of baggage claim, outside door exits 1-4. Airport personnel are available on the taxi curb to assist passengers.
